Customs & Taxes
Learn about customs duties, taxes, and fees for Superhot Eyewear orders. We provide DAP (Delivered at Place) for most shipments, and offer DDP services for specific shipping methods such as Standard Shipping, USA DDP Standard, and USA DDP Economy.
Important
For UPS shipments to the U.S., please prepay duties and taxes before delivery to avoid the new $12 ICOD fee (effective June 2, 2025).
What Are Customs Duties and Taxes?
Customs duties are taxes imposed by your government on goods entering the country. These duties vary by country and product type, and are typically assessed at the point of entry into your country. Taxes are calculated based on the value of the goods.
At Superhot Eyewear, most of our shipments use DAP (Delivered at Place), which means you will be responsible for clearing customs and paying any duties and taxes when the goods arrive. However, we offer DDP (Delivered Duty Paid) services for specific shipping options, such as Standard Shipping, USA DDP Standard, and USA DDP Economy. With DDP, the taxes and duties are included in the price, so you won’t need to pay anything upon arrival.
UPS Shipments to the U.S. — ICOD Fee Update
Effective date: June 2, 2025
For international shipments sent to the United States via UPS, an additional $12 ICOD (International Collect on Delivery) fee will be charged by UPS if duties and taxes are not prepaid before delivery. This fee is collected by UPS from the consignee upon delivery.
How to avoid the ICOD fee:
-
Prepay duties and taxes electronically via the UPS website/app (Apple Pay, Google Pay, Visa, Mastercard, or Discover) using the link in your UPS tracking.
-
If duties are billed to a valid UPS account number before delivery, the ICOD fee does not apply.
Important: This ICOD fee only applies to UPS shipments. Other carriers are not affected.
To receive UPS’s prepayment notification, please provide accurate recipient contact details (full name, phone number, and email) at checkout.
Important Reminder: Provide Your Tax Number
When placing an order, it is important that you provide your tax number, especially if you are located in countries where it is required for customs clearance. For example:
-
Brazil: CPF (Cadastro de Pessoas Físicas) or CNPJ (Cadastro Nacional da Pessoa Jurídica).
-
Mexico: RFC (Registro Federal de Contribuyentes).
-
Indonesia: NPWP (Nomor Pokok Wajib Pajak).
Providing the correct tax number will help ensure a smooth customs clearance process and avoid delays with your shipment. If you are unsure about whether you need to provide a tax number, please check with your local customs office or contact us for guidance.
Shipping Options and Their Tax Policies
DAP (Delivered at Place)
Most of our orders use DAP shipping, meaning the customer is responsible for paying any import duties and taxes when the goods reach the destination country. The amount of tax and duties will depend on the value of the goods and the customs regulations in the destination country.
Countries Affected: All countries outside of our DDP shipping regions.
DDP (Delivered Duty Paid)
For certain shipping options, such as USA DDP Standard and USA DDP Economy, we include all duties and taxes in the price of the order. This means no additional payment is required when the goods arrive at the destination.
Countries Covered: USA, Canada, EU, UK, Australia, and more.
How to Pay Customs Duties and Taxes
For DDP shipments, all customs duties and taxes are included in the price, so no additional fees are required. For DAP shipments, customers are responsible for paying any customs fees directly to the shipping carrier or customs authorities upon delivery.
Once your package arrives in your country, the customs office or the carrier will notify you about the duties and taxes due. These fees can typically be paid online or directly to the carrier handling the delivery.
